Wow, what a superb event this was. 4 Networking is a networking group (funny that!) I have been involved with for almost 5 years now, and for the last 2 years plus, I have been the Group Leader at the Quayside group that meets fortnightly on a Wednesday morning at the Copthorne Hotel. A few months ago, we realised that it would soon be the groups 4th Birthday and that we should do something to celebrate. That's when we came up with the idea of having a birthday party and setting me the challenge to get 40 people there on the 3rd July. Normally we get 20ish with the previous maximum around the 30 mark, so this was no mean task.

As with a lot of this years challenges the idea grew and grew and the event turned into the 4N Quayside Big Birthday Bash, complete with cake, a raffle, 43 business people there in the end and a silent auction to win me for a day!!

So after lots of promotion and hard work by myself and the rest of the team - Mike from ME PAT Services, Dona from WBS Accountants, Alex from Souter PR, Leanne from Your Events Maid, Andrew and Pete and Rebecca from Marcom Print, the day arrived and we were set. Little did we know how our plans would turn out to be just a vague outline as we had to play a lot of it by ear, making lots of it up as we went along and generally stressing over trying to get all the regular parts of the meeting done, while also selling raffle tickets, cutting cake and keeping the timings right. I think we just about got away with it and everyone seemed to have a good time at the meeting - there were certainly lots that stayed behind chatting well after the event had finished.

The big bonus for The XL Challenge was that the Raffle raised £250 and the Auction a further £101 (with the winning bid from Ramon at NECS only 26p more that Andrew and Pete's!) All I have to worry about now is what Ramon wants to do with me - eek!
